Bathroom remodel planning guide
A practical checklist to help you organize your ideas before discussing a bathroom remodel or custom shower.
What affects the cost of a bathroom remodel?
The size of the room, layout changes, existing conditions, tile and fixture choices, and the work included all affect a bathroom remodel. An online photo or questionnaire cannot establish a reliable price. Share your priorities and budget planning status, then confirm the scope and written price before proceeding.
1. Take stock of your current bathroom
List what you like and what frustrates you. Consider layout, storage, lighting, cleaning, and the shower or tub. Make a short “must change” list before a “nice to have” list.
2. Gather a few visual references
Choose three to five images and write down what you like about each. Is it the color, tile layout, shower enclosure, hardware, or overall feeling? References help explain preferences; they do not establish product availability.
3. Describe your priorities
Rank your goals: appearance, easier use, storage, layout, or replacing worn finishes. If you have specific access needs, raise them during project review so suitability can be discussed.
4. Think about investment and timing
Write down any budget you have in mind and the timing you prefer. These are planning inputs, not a price estimate or a promised start date. Ask what affects scope, materials, and scheduling.
5. Prepare your questions
What is included in the proposed scope? Which choices need to be made? What happens if conditions change? How will pricing, payments, and schedule be documented? Confirm answers before making a commitment.
